Diane Ponzio

Diane Ponzio is a native New Yorker who writes songs, plays the guitar, and sings her songs all over the world... a global minstrel. She has opened for Tuck & Patti, Kenny Rankin, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, John Hammond, Suzanne Vega.

Diane has succeeded in writing cutting edge Pop music, by fusing the best of Jazz and R&B. With distinctive lyrics that appeal to both the heart and intellect, her saxophone-like mezzo defies categorization.

From her inspired annual rendition of our National Anthem at Shea Stadium, to her sensitive community work in hospitals in the NYC area, she is committed to encouraging the human spirit and succeeds every time in touching hearts of all shapes and ages, as well as intoxicating the feet!

An accomplished guitarist, Diane Ponzio, the face of Martin Guitars, has achieved International recognition as an accomplished acoustic guitar player and singer-songwriter. She became Martin's worldwide representative in 1985, in addition to performing over 100 concerts annually. In 2003, the company designed a signature Martin Guitar in her honor.

Diane's 7th CD has the distinction of having been recorded in New Zealand, and features the tasty production skills of veteran kiwi Anna Rugis. Largely the work of a dedicated trio of talent, the arrangements although spartan, underscore Diane's guitar playing and vocals, along with her spirited percussion. In The Middle was recorded and mixed in Auckland, mastered in seaside Devonport by well regarded engineer Rikki Morris, the cover art is a painting by NZ painter Rachel Olsen.

Diane Ponzio is a first-class writer and musician, and one of the most entertaining performers around. She.s the real deal.
Lydia Hutchinson, Editor, The Performing Songwriter magazine

" What would occur if one tried to find an appropriate stylistic "drawer" for Diane Ponzio? Certainly one would pull out "folk" as the first drawer. But then a drawer for jazz would have to immediately follow. And then for Chanson and Blues. At some point, this type of thinking would have to be given up because Diane makes, if one, after all must try to categorize it, popular music in the best sense-that is, in an intelligent manner and on a high musical level."
Akustik Gitarre Magazine, Germany:

" Every time she plays, I can't help but feel she's playing just for me. Then I look around the audience, and it seems as if everyone else feels the same way."
C.F. Martin IV, CEO, Martin Guitar Company
