“Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell & Ma Bell - all name variations for one of New Zealand’s most musical Scottish imports”
(NZ Musicians Magazine July 2003)

izzy_miller_bell (37K) Izzy Miller Bell began her 23-year musical career performing and busking in the street cafes of Europe during the 70’s. From Europe to Sydney she gave her first professional performance at The Manly Summer Festival in 1983.

This well travelled Scot arrived in New Zealand in 1987 where she became known as The Folks Blues singer performing at festivals, major events and venues in New Zealand’s South Island accompanied by some of Canterbury’s finest musicians including Tom Rainey, Doug Caldwell, Bob Heinz and Jon Maxim Hooker and finger style guitarist Susan Grant who accompanies her this year at Whare Flat.

Izzy was a festival guest at Whare Flat in 2000- a festival appearance that remains a highlight of her career remembered as Ready for the Storm .

In 2003 Izzy recorded and released Blues Angel and stepped firmly onto the International arena to promote her work. A highlight of her tour was highlighting Glasgow’s Festival of fire & Water.

Since returning from the U.K. and Australia Ma Bell has been spreading her wings Nationally promoting her Blues Angel CD. Recent performances include The Montana International Jazz Festival 2005. The Waipara Wine & Food Festival - The Wellington Folk Festival and The Nelson Arts Festival.
