The Fire Season is Jeremy Brownbrooke,
Sophia Bidwell and Jonathan Le Cocq. Since
2009 they have played together in the Barocco
Celtico ensemble at the Akaroa International
Summer School.
From a variety of musical backgrounds, they
are tune specialists, bringing you an evening of
original and traditional music from celtic regions
around the world.
Born in the Channel Island of Jersey, Jonathan
Le Cocq studied music in London and Oxford,
and moved to New Zealand in 2001 where he
teaches music at Canterbury University. He
divides his time between playing celtic music on
guitar and mandolin, and early music on lute,
theorbo and baroque guitar.
Jeremy Brownbrooke began his musical career
as a choir boy and has graduated through
rock bands, bush bands, celtic bands, playing
mandolin, violin, guitar and other things with
strings.
Sophia Bidwell trained as a classical pianist,
studying music at the University of Canterbury,
but is now more at home on the piano accordion.
She is a regular performer at festivals and barn
dances.
