The band originally formed out of the strong Irish music scene
in Canberra in the mid-nineties, before locating to Melbourne in
1998. For nearly a decade Trouble have played the length and
breadth of Australia, featuring at all the major folk festivals,
and along the way they have established themselves as certain
crowd favourites.
With a versatile lineup that fuses searing tunes with driving
guitar and bouzouki, Trouble are increasingly drawing on original
material as well as tunes and songs collected in the Australian
Irish tradition, giving their sound a distinctive local twist.
Above all, it is the energy of their live shows that sets Trouble
apart, and their presence at any festival is a guarantee of
lively (and late...) sessions!
Trouble in The Kitchen have two albums available: Down The Broom
(1999) and When The World Was Wide (2003).

Decian Affley Memorial Award for excellence in a young performer

backbone to Trouble’s distinctive sound. Co-winner with,

the Australian National Festival in 1998. In 2004 the two toured
Ireland with Andy Irvine and UK performers James Fagan and Nancy

and Grada.
