Willie McArthur is a name that could be connected with bands such as Celtic Groove, Shebeen, The Dublin Street Band and traditional songsters Origin.
If you thought he had vanished forever, you're wrong. Willie left for Scotland with his wife and kids for a 8 month working holiday. Three years later, he is back and brings a new improved version of himself to the folk club. After playing full time around the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas for 2 years including 3 visits to Germany and 2 trips to the zeltcafe festival near Stuttgart (www.zeltcafe.de ), the McArthur clan embarked on an epic journey, travelling through Europe in an old Mercedes bus. They travelled 27,000 kms in nine and a half months spanning most of Europe.
With all of this and meeting some great musicians and good friends on the way, he hopes that this experience will show through the music. Accompanied by some good friends, Willie will cross the genres, with a mix of traditional Scottish and Irish and some trad arr.'s, some original songs and tunes, a few ripping yarns and oddities, armed with guitar, mandolin, harmonica and whatever else comes to hand Whilst in Scotland, he recorded a live CD, "Willie McArthur Live At O'Neill's", which has sold well throughout the UK and Europe, some of these tracks will be revealed on the night.
